Where should I put my garbage container and when should I have it out?

You should set your container 3 feet or closer to the curb and 3 feet away from any other object. It should be set out by 6am on your garbage day.

What if my garbage collection day falls on a holiday?

If your garbage collection day falls on a holiday your garbage will be collected on that Wednesday instead. Example #1: If your garbage day is on Monday and Monday is Memorial Day it will be picked up on Wednesday. Example #2: If your garbage day is Thursday and Thursday is Thanksgiving Day your garbage will be collected the day before on Wednesday.

How do I dispose of appliances?

Appliances cannot be mixed with normal household or commercial trash. You can arrange special appliance pickup for a fee by contacting us.

Can yard waste be disposed of in the garbage?

No, yard waste cannot be mixed with normal household or commercial trash. Yard waste can be dropped off at the city dump located on 7th Street NW,  behind B & B Salvage.

How do we dispose of larger items like appliances or furniture and is there a charge?

Larger items can be picked up by contacting us for a small fee. Larger items will only be picked up if they are outside your residence.

What if I have extra garbage or need a special pickup?

Extra garbage and special pickups will be hauled by contacting our office to arrange pickup.

What do I do with paint and chemicals?

We can dispose of paint cans that are either empty or where the paint is completely hardened. The lids need to be removed so we can see the contents of the container. Chemicals should not be disposed of in the garbage. If they are full please call for information regarding hazardous waste removal. Empty containers can be placed in the proper container for either trash or recycle.

What are your office hours?

Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8am-12pm and 1-4pm and Fridays 8am-12pm and 1pm-3:30pm.

What if I am moving?

When you are moving from one location to another in Sioux Center, your garbage container stays at the original house that that container was assigned to. If you want a larger can or an extra can please contact us and one will be brought out.

Our Sioux Center office is located at 360 4th Street NW.

Commercial FAQs

Where should I put my container once I receive it?

Location is very important. The dumpster must be in an area that is free of obstacles. This ensures the driver will be able to back-up to the dumpster to empty it.

What can I put in the container?

Anything is acceptable expect for appliances of any kind, also no hazardous chemicals like pesticides, paint cans, engine oil, dead animals, tires, batteries, grass, trees, bricks or concrete.

Can Redemption Center FAQs

What are the can & bottle redemption hours?

Our can and bottle redemption hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8am-12pm and 1pm-3pm. Can redemption is closed until further notice on Saturdays.  

Where is the can and bottle redemption center located?

We are located at 360 4th Street NW, Sioux Center, IA.

Can I bring my glass bottles in plastic bags?

NO, all glass bottles (pop, beer and wine) need to be in their original container or a cardboard box. Glass will not be accepted in plastic or garbage bags.

Do you sell boxes for my cans and plastic bottles?

Yes, we sell boxes and bags for cans and plastic bottles to be sorted into.

Why shred?

Businesses have a legal and ethical responsibility to keep sensitive customer and employee information from falling into the wrong hands. Proper disposal of personal and confident documents in a timely fashion will keep your proprietary information out of competitor’s hands.

What should I shred?

We encourage you to shred all paper leaving your home, office or business. It is the most certain way to protect your home or organization from identity theft.

I don’t have a business only my personal documents, should they be shredded?

Yes, we encourage you to shred all paper leaving your home. It is the most certain way to protect yourself from identity theft.

What happens to our paper after you shred it?

To help protect the environment all shredded material is baled and shipped to paper mills. The material is re-pulped and processed into white office paper or tissue paper.

Are three ring binders acceptable?

The binders can harm our shredding equipment and we ask that you do your best to keep them out of the shredding containers.

Do I need to remove staples and paper clips?

You do not need to remove staples, paper clips, rubber bands, or black paper fasteners.
